How do I get ready for a DOT FMCSA saftey audit, inspection or new entrant exam?

FMCSA Compliance Issues

Please be prepared upon a new entrant exam, inspection or safety exam to have on hand the following items for FMCSA officials who will conduct your inspections.

  1. A copy of your written Controlled Substances and Alcohol Testing Policy.
  2. Documentation of your drivers receiving a copy of your written Controlled Substances and Alcohol Testing Policy.
  3. Documentation of your drivers receiving a copy of your DOT FMCSA educational materials.
  4. Documentation of supervisors receiving required Supervisor Training on reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
  5. Copies of pre-employment drug test results for all drivers hired in past year.
  6. Copies of random drug and alcohol results for all drivers randomly tested in past year.
  7. A copy of your certificate of enrollment in the random drug/alcohol testing program administered by your Consortium/Third Party Administrator (C/TPA).
  8. A list of all drivers currently enrolled in the random drug/alcohol testing program administered by your Consortium/Third Party Administrator.
  9. A document describing the random testing scientific methodology is available upon request from your Consortium/Third Party Administrator.
