This DOT urine collection training also qualifies for the DOT required 5 year refresher training. Learn about the steps to successfully complete a urine specimen collection for drug testing. Learn also about problem collections such as: insufficient quantity, shy bladder, temperature out of range, direct observation requirements and refusals to test. Specimen collectors must be trained and qualified to perform DOT collections. This includes the proficiency requirement of the 5 mock collections.

How do I become a DOT urine specimen collector?
In order to qualify as a collector, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of Part 40 regulations, the current “DOT Urine Specimen Collection Procedures Guidelines,” and DOT agency regulations relevant to the employers you will be working with for collections. It is crucial to stay updated on any revisions to these materials. Additionally, you must (1) successfully complete a qualification training program and (2) pass a monitored proficiency demonstration, as mandated by DOT regulations [See 49 CFR Part 40.33 (b-c). It is important to note that there are no exemptions or waivers from this requirement.
