Alarming Statistics on Drug use in America

In 2013, 8.9% of full time workers admitted to current illicit drug use, this is alarming.

Results from the 2013 National Survey on Drug Use and Health: Summary of National Findings

  • 24.6 million current illicit drug users, 9.4 % of the polulation
  • 7 out of 10 reported that their first drug was marijuana
  • 68.9% employed full time
  • 8.9% of American workers admitted to current illicit drug use
  • Marijuana was by far the most commonly used illicit drug with approximately 19.8 million current users aged 12 and older.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently released the results of the 2013 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). NSDUH, the Nation’s largest survey of drug use and drug-related attitudes, perceptions and consequences, interviews approximately 70,000 Americans who are 12 and older.  Click Here to read the overview report released on 09/04/2014 regarding the 2013 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH).
