We see lots of searches on Google, and we get lots of questions about what is a 6 panel drug test. It is difficult to determine exactly what a six panel drug test consists of without knowing what the test requester is looking for.

We know that the standard 5 panel drug test is as follows:

  1. Opioids (including 6AM or Heroin, Codeine, Morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone & hydromorphone)
  2. Cocaine
  3. Amphetamines (+Methamphetamines, MDMA & MDA)
  4. Phencyclidine (PCP)
  5. Marijuana


So, what is the sixth drug that the test requester is looking for when requesting a 6 panel drug test? Often it is Barbiturates, but it could also be Alcohol, Benzodiazepines, Methaqualone, Methadone, Propoxyphene. Tramadol, Fentanyl, Meperidine or Buprenorphine. The 6 panel could also be a test panel without marijuana that includes some combination of any the drugs listed above.

A six panel drug test can be with a hair specimen, urine specimen or oral fluid specimen. Always be sure to request the specific drugs you want included in the testing panel.
