Oral fluid drug testing for the DOT drug and alcohol testing program will be upon the industry sometime in 2025. Currently major laboratories are applying to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for certification for testing of oral fluid specimens for the DOT drug testing program.
Over 20,000 specimen collectors throughout the United States will need to be trained and qualified for collecting oral fluid specimens in accordance with DOT regulations. National Drug Screening has an aggressive training program available including webinars, online training and now a schedule of live training events.

These one day live training events will be from 9am to 5pm and will include the required DOT qualification training and require proficiency demonstrations (often called mock collections). Supplies for the mock collections will be provided. Participants will receive certification and be ready to perform DOT oral fluid specimen drug test collections at the conclusion of the training.
All participants for the live training events will receive a comprehensive Oral Fluid Specimen Collector Training Manual and a video demonstrating the complete collection process.
Train The Trainer For DOT Oral Fluid Specimen Collectors
Many drug testing companies, hospital systems and occupational medicine centers will be looking to have one or more of their team trained as trainers. Upon completion of the one day training, these folks can attend a second morning session the second day for a more in depth training for train the trainer certification. Trainers who successfully complete the course will receive a train-the-trainer certificate along with presentation and handout materials to be used for training collectors for DOT Oral Fluid Collections.
