12 Panel Drug Test and More

In previous blog posts and web pages we talk about common drug test panels mainly 5 panel and 10 panel.

More and more today we get questions about a 12 Panel Drug Test and other panels including 13, 14,15,16 and 17.

Our common panels the 5 and 10 panel are the starting points for the various panels of drug testing available at major drug testing laboratories. These panels include the following drugs: Marijuana, Cocaine, PCP or Phencyclidine, Amphetamines, Opioids, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Propoxyphene, Methadone, and Methaqualone. It is important to note that some labs are dropping the Methaqualone, and it’s now a 9-panel test. Why are they dropping the Methaqualone? That’s Quaaludes. Nobody uses them anymore.

Also note that these above panel also include testing for the following drugs and some folks add these to the panel count which is incorrect.

  • Methamphetamine, MDMA & MDA (ecstasy) which are included on Amphetamines panel
  • Codeine, heroin, morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone & hydromorphone which are included on the Opioids panel. Other then codeine, morphine and heroin these are commonly called the expanded opiates.

Now when we talk about panels above the 10 panel like the 12 panel there can be variations of the drugs to be tested. When ordering these panels, you must specify what additional drugs you are looking for. These expanded panels above and beyond the 10 panel are typically available with urine or hair specimens.
