Most Common Drug Test Panels

Last updated on October 13th, 2020 at 04:39 pm

You are trying to order a drug test and being asked what drug test panel do you need.  You think to yourself, what is a drug test panel?

Drug testing is rarely done one drug at a time.  This is inefficient and more expensive then perhaps performing a 5 panel or a 10-panel drug test which could be a urine drug test, hair drug test or oral fluid drug test.  Testing blood for drugs is not used very often, it is invasive and very expensive; the other methods of drug testing are just as accurate.

All of the drug test panels can be ordered online from National Drug Screening.

DOT Drug Testing

Very popular if you work for a company regulated by the United Stated Department of Transportation.  This includes owner operator truck drivers and boat captains.  The DOT drug test manded is the 5 panel DOT Drug Test which includes: Marijuana, Phencyclidine (PCP), Opioids (including 6AM or Heroin, Codeine, Morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone & hydromorphone) and Amphetamines (with Methamphetamines, MDMA & MDA).  It looks like more than 5 drugs, but this is called the DOT 5 panel drug test.

Non Regulated or Non DOT Drug Testing

For Non-Regulated drug testing for employers and other reasons including court ordered, student drug testing, personal drug testing, probation drug testing and others; there are many variations including a DOT Like test and other panel configurations.

5 Panel DOT Like – same as above includes Marijuana, Phencyclidine (PCP), Opioids (including 6AM or Heroin, Codeine, Morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone & hydromorphone) and Amphetamines (with Methamphetamines, MDMA & MDA).

10 Panel DOT Like – More drugs tested include Marijuana, Phencyclidine (PCP), Opioids (including 6AM or Heroin, Codeine, Morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone & hydromorphone) and Amphetamines (with Methamphetamines, MDMA & MDA) plus BZO-Benzodiazepines BAR-Barbiturates; MTD-Methadone; PPX-Propoxyphene; and Meth – Methaqualone.

5 Panel Standard – This does not include the expanded Opiates – Marijuana, Phencyclidine (PCP), Opioids (including 6AM or Heroin, Codeine & Morphine) and Amphetamines (with Methamphetamines, MDMA & MDA).

10 Panel Standard – This does not include the expanded Opiates – Marijuana, Phencyclidine (PCP), Opioids (including 6AM or Heroin, Codeine & Morphine) and Amphetamines (with Methamphetamines, MDMA & MDA) plus BZO-Benzodiazepines BAR-Barbiturates; MTD-Methadone; PPX-Propoxyphene; and Meth – Methaqualone.

Urine Alcohol – A test for alcohol can be combined to any of the drug test panels.  This is often used for probation drug testing or court ordered testing.  Testing for alcohol is not recommended for employment testing because this test will not show any current impairment.  These panels are often called 5 panel with alcohol or 10 panel with alcohol.

EtG Alcohol – A different type of alcohol test using a urine specimen, or a hair specimen called EtG or EtG EtS alcohol testing.  A direct metabolite of alcohol (ethanol), the EtG test will determine whether an individual has consumed alcohol in the last 80 hours after ingestion with a urine specimen or up to 90 days with a hair specimen.  Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and ethyl sulfate (EtS) are the more scientific names, this test is detecting biomarkers of the metabolite of alcohol.

 Hair Drug Testing

Many options for hair testing including the above mentioned 5 Panel DOT Like, 10 Panel DOT Like, 5 Panel Standard, 10 Panel Standard and more including:

  • Hair Drug Test 7 Panel:  Barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines (methamphetamine & ecstasy), phencyclidine (PCP) and opiates (codeine, morphine & 6-MAM heroin metabolite, hydrocodone and hydromorphone, oxycodone and oxymorphone)
  • Hair Drug Test 9 Panel – Propoxyphene, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines (methamphetamine & ecstasy), phencyclidine (PCP), opiates ((codeine, morphine & 6-MAM heroin metabolite, hydrocodone and hydromorphone, oxycodone and oxymorphone), barbiturates, benzodiazepines and methadone.
  • Hair Drug Test 12 Panel – Cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines (Methamphetamine & Ecstasy), phencyclidine (PCP), opiates (Codeine, Morphine & 6-MAM Heroin Metabolite, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Hydromorphone), barbiturates, benzodiazepines, propoxyphene, methadone, meperidine and tramadol.
  • Hair Test 14 Panel – propoxyphene, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines (methamphetamine & ecstasy), phencyclidine (PCP), opiates (Codeine, Morphine & 6-MAM Heroin Metabolite, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Hydromorphone), barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, tramadol, sufentanil, fentanyl and meperidine.
  • Hair Drug Test 17 Panel: – The most comprehensive hair drug test panel available at our drug testing centers across the United States. Testing for Amphetamines, Methamphetamines, Cocaine, Marijuana, Opiates, Synthetic Expanded Opiates, Fentanyl, Tramadol, Buprenorphine, PCP, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Methadone, Propoxyphene, Meperidine, Ketamine, Zolpidem (Ambien).
  • Hair Test EtG Alcohol –   Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) Hair Alcohol Test – It takes about 5 days for EtG to get into the hair. You must have head hair or body hair for this test. This test is common for zero tolerance alcohol abstinence programs, court ordered programs and DUI programs. The test measures any alcohol consumption up to 90 days. This test does not measure current impairment or under the influence. It takes about 5 days for EtG to get into the hair. You must have head hair or body hair for this test. You will be notified with a phone call with the location for the collection for your hair alcohol EtG test. A hair specimen can provide long-term history of drug and alcohol abuse by trapping biomarkers in the fibers of the growing hair strand. Our EtG (Ethyl Glucuronide) Hair Alcohol Test checks for the presence of the Ethyl (drinking) Alcohol metabolite, Ethyl Glucuronide.

Online ordering of any of the above drug tests is available 24/7 from your computer or any device with internet access.
